Curzio Malaparte, intellettuale dalla fama controversa, è stato un osservatore privilegiato e un audace commentatore della società sovietica della prima metà del Novecento. Il romanzo incompiuto Il ballo al Kremlino, ambientato nella Russia del 1929 ma composto a partire dagli anni Quaranta, impiega numerose citazioni con funzioni testuali diversificate. Malaparte pone il suo pubblico in costante rapporto intertestuale con un vastissimo bagaglio culturale e con i grandi nomi della letteratura russa.

 

 

A controversial intellectual, Curzio Malaparte was a privileged observer and daring commentator of Soviet society in the first half of the twentieth century. Set in 1929 Russia but started in the Forties, his incomplete novel The Kremlin Ball features numerous quotations with different textual functions. Malaparte fosters an ongoing intertextual relationship between his readers and a wide cultural background as well as with the greatest writers in Russian literature.
